Flora Oil UFO for HUL-Lipton


Problem
Flora Oil’s refill packs were often stored under the counter in retail outlets, making them invisible to customers. This reduced the product's visibility and sales potential.​


Approach
The team conducted over 20 retailer interviews to understand the root cause. It was observed that more than 50% of retailers kept cooking oil refill packs in dark corners or under the counter, stored in buckets to catch oil spills. This setup was both unappealing and inefficient.​​


Solution
A design solution was introduced: an injection-moulded point-of-purchase (POP) unit shaped like a UFO. The unit was functional, storing refill packs while collecting spillage at the bottom. Its aesthetic appeal encouraged retailers to place it on the counter, significantly increasing brand visibility. As a result, Flora Oil experienced higher brand recognition and increased retail space.
